Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School played host to Mattoon and edged the visitors, 5-4 in eight innings of baseball action Tuesday.

Mattoon took a 1-0 first inning lead but the Bullpups tallied two in the second and one in the third. Mattoon came back to regain the lead 4-3 in the top of the fifth but the Bullpups tied in the bottom of the inning. The two teams went scoreless into the eighth when St. Anthony tallied the winning run.

Hoene had a single, two doubles and an RBI while Levitt had two doubles and an RBI. Stewart added two doubles. Sehy drove in a run with a single.

Teutopolis stepped out to a 1-0 first inning lead but Altamont tied in the second. T-town then took off with three runs in the third and fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth for a 10-1 victory.

The Wooden Shoes had 10 hits led by Bushur with a single, double and an RBI, M. Althoff with two singles and an RBI and Schmidt with two singles.

Altamont was led by Frost with a double.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City trounced Ramsey 15-0 in three innings Tuesday.

CHBC took a 4-0 opening inning lead then added on nine in the second and two in the third.

Rhodes led the way with a single and double while Schlanser added a double. All nine players had hits for CHBC.

Robertson was the winning pitcher on a three-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts.

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up an 11-5 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown in action Tuesday.

SSW led 3-1 after the first inning and 6-5 after five then had a three-run sixth and a two-run seventh.

Wernsing had four hits for the winners and two RBI. J. Wittenberg had three hits and an RBI, A. Wittenberg two hits and three RBI, Rincker two hits and an RBI and Vonderheide two hits.

BSE was led by Forbes with two hits.
