St. Anthony, Altamont, Dieterich Nab Baseball Wins

KINMUNDY -- Effingham St. Anthony waited until the last inning before unleashing their run-scoring ability to take a 5-1 victory over South Central in high school baseball action Tuesday.
The two teams went through three scoreless innings before the Cougars struck with a run in the fourth on a homer by Trent Geiler.
That homer held up until the top of the fifth when the Bulldogs came to bat. With one out, Jacob Guy reached base on an error. Adam Levitt and Blake Niebrugge drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Davis Tingley hit a sacrifice fly to deep right that allowed the tying run to score and advanced Levitt and Niebrugge to second and third. South Central got the second out. Colin Koester was intentionally walked. Austin Kline drew another walk and scored a second run. Greg Utz singled home another run and Joseph Kabbes banged out a single, scoring the final two runs.
The Bulldogs finished with only three hits while South Central had five.
Levitt was the winning pitcher on a five-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts. The Cougars gave up six walks.

At Altamont
Altamont edged Brownstown/St. Elmo 2-1 in an extra inning contest Tuesday.
Both teams went scoreless through the first five innings before BSE tallied a run in the top of the sixth. Altamont came back to knot the score with a run in the bottom of the seventh and then won it in the eighth.
SEB had seven hits led by Brown with two singles and Atwood with a double. Brown was the losing pitcher on a five-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts. BSE drops to 1-2 in the National Trail Conference, 2-3 overall.
The Indians had five hits led by Whitt with a single and double. Vaughn and Teasley drove in a run each with singles. Biggs went five innings, allowing five hits, three walks and striking out five. Pemberton came on to finish for the victory allowing two hits, no walks and four strikeouts.

At Dieterich
Dieterich owned this contest. The Movin' Maroons took a 1-0 first inning lead and finished out winning the game over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg by the 10-run rule in five innings, 10-0.
The Maroons banged out 10 hits in the contest and was aided by six WSS errors. Thoele had a single, double and two RBI while Schmidt added two singles and an RBI. Bohnhoff led the way with two singles, a double and two RBI. Hunzinger drove in a run with a single.
WSS was led by Kramer with a double.
Thoele threw a three-hitter over four innings, allowing one walk and striking out four. Campton came on to finish the final inning with one strikeout.
