Effingham Junior High School edged Teutopolis 7-6 in the A baseball game opener Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes took a 3-0 first inning lead and held that until the fifth when they added on two more runs. The  Mustangs then had a six-run bottom of the fifth to take the lead. T-town tied in the top of the seventh.

The game went into the eighth and Effingham scored the winning run in the bottom of the frame.

Perry and Budde had a double each for the Mustangs. Perry had one RBI and Budde three. Nelson and Pals added two singles and an RBI each.

T-town was led by Bushur with a single and double and K. Althoff with a double.

In the B contest, T-town was a winner 17-0.

At Altamont

In the Altamont Opening Day Tournament, Jasper County finished with a 3-0 record for first place followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo 2-1, Altamont 1-2 and Dieterich 0-3.

Altamont blanked Dieterich 10-0, Jasper County won over Brownstown/St. Elmo 9-0, BSE then beat Dieterich 4-1, Jasper County downed Altamont 5-1, Jasper County blanked Dieterich 14-0 and BSE edged Altamont 13-2.

 

At Neoga

Neoga defeated Tri-County 5-2 in action Saturday.

Tri-County took a 1-0 first inning lead but Neoga came right back to tie in the second. Both teams scored in the fourth before Neoga brought home three in the fifth for the 5-2 win.

Paci McClure picked up the win on the mound. Luke Romack had two singles while Cam Buescher hit a home run, Justin Bullock had a double and Zac Campbell had two singles.

In the second game, Casey blanked Neoga 15-0. Casey took a 7-0 first inning lead and never looked back.

Brady Reynolds had a single for Neoga.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) handed Salem a 5-2 loss. Salem took a 1-0 first inning lead and led 2-1 after three. North Clay tied in the fourth then had a three-run sixth.

Ingram had two singles and three RBI for the winners while Clifton had two singles and an RBI.

At Salem

Altamont Lutheran Inter-Parish took home a 4-1 victory over Salem Franklin Park Friday.

Ty.er Robbins earned the win for Altamont Lutheran. He went six innings, surrending one run, two hits and striking out nine. Cornett recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Robbins and Avery Jahruas drove in two runs for the Rockets.
