An accident late Friday evening resulted in the death of a Greenville woman and injured her husband.
Lori L. File, 67, was killed in a single vehicle accident on Route 40 near the Fayette-Bond County line. File was pronounced dead at the scene by Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris. File’s husband was airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis.
Mrs. File was a sister to former Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith who now lives in Missouri.
The accident remains under investigation by the Coroner’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and the ISP. No further information is being released at this time. Personnel from Rural Med and the Mulberry Grove First Responders were also on scene.
