Bulldogs Bounce Bombers; Area Roundup

BROWNSTOWN -- Nick Grunloh finished the game for Effingham St. Anthony High School with a two-hitter as the Bulldogs downed Brownstown 13-2 in five innings Thursday.

St. Anthony had 14 hits in the contest. The Bulldogs broke a 1-1 first inning tie with a four-run third then followed with four runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Bulldogs improve to 14-3 on the season.

Dieterich 11, Beecher City 2

Dieterich edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. Beecher City tied the score in the top of the second but Dieterich pushed ahead with three runs in the second and third innings.

The Movin' Maroons had 11 hits in the contest. Tanner Traub had a single, double and an RBI while Chris Lidy and Trenton Poe had two singles each. Lidy drove in three runs while Poe contributed a run. Brandon Westjohn and Garrett Einhorn had a double each. Einhorn had two RBI and Westjohn one.

Traub picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with five walks and 13 strikeouts. Jacob Kenter had a double and an RBI for Beecher City.

South Central blanked Windsor 10-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule.

Dan Diss improved his pitching record to 5-1 by throwing a one-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts. Shawn Meyer came on in relief in the fifth, allowing no hits, one walk and striking out three.

Dylan Smith had two singles and two RBI for the winners. Kyle Bray had a double and two RBI.
