KINMUNDY -- South Central High School tallied all five runs in the third inning then had to hold off a challenge by Neoga to pull out a 5-4 baseball victory Thursday.
Neoga took a 2-0 lead in the second inning before the big third run explosion by the Cougars. Neoga pulled within 5-4 in the fifth but fell short.
Neoga outhit South Central 7-4. Walk had a single and a double while McKimmey had two singles and Monroe a double and two RBI. The Indians drop to 4-3 in the National Trail Conference, 6-8-1 overall.
South Central's Kyle Bray picked up the pitching win on a seven-hitter with four walks and five strikeouts. Noah Powless came on in the fifth in relief with one strikeout.
Powelss hit a home run in the third and drove in three runs. Daniel Diss had a single and an RBI. The Cougars remain atop the NTC standings with an 8-0 mark and are 13-3-1 overall.
