Stew-Stras Edges Windsor, 2-1

WINDSOR -- Stewardson-Strasburg High School edged Windsor in a hard-fought, close National Trail Conference baseball contest Wednesday, 2-1.
The two teams went scoreless through four before the Comets broke into the scoring column with a run in the fifth. Stew-Stras tacked on another run in the top of the sixth. Windsor came back with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Mark Jones picked up the pitching victory going six innings allowing one run on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Gunner Theis came in for the save.
Stew-Stras had only four hits in the contest by Jones, Christian Vonderheide, Justin Fulk and Brandon Helmuth. The Comets improve to 9-4 on the season and return to action Friday at Neoga.
Windsor was led by Trey Leasher with a single, double and an RBI. He also picked up the pitching loss on a two-hitter with one walk and one strikeout. The Blue Devils fall to 5-3 in the NTC, 6-7 overall. Windsor is back in action against Putnam County Friday in an 8 p.m. contest.
