Sept. 11 Junior High Regional Results

Junior high school baseball regionals opened across the state Tuesday. In the Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony Regional opening game, Ramsey defeated Brownstown 11-3.

Saturday's games feature St. Anthony taking on Ramsey at 10 a.m. followed by Dieterich against St. Elmo at 11:30.

Windsor advanced from the Class 1A Okaw Valley Regional. Windsor defeated Effingham Sacred Heart 12-2. Windsor will now face Findlay Okaw Valley at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by Stewardson-Strasburg against Sigel St. Michael at noon.

In the Class 2A Jasper County Regional, Palestine and Oblong were winners. Palestine edged Red Hill (Bridgeport) 9-7 while Oblong won over Casey-Westfield 9-4.

Oblong takes on Lawrenceville Parkview at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by Jasper County meeting Palestine at noon.

Cumberland and Neoga picked up victories in opening round play of the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional.

Cumberland edged Sullivan 4-3 while Neoga blasted Beecher City, 20-5. Neoga stepped out to a 6-1 first inning lead and never looked back. Neoga was led by Andrews with three singles and four RBI, Butler with a single, double and two RBI and Hill and Ramert with a single and a double each. Nohren led Beecher City with two singles and an RBI.

Cumberland takes on Altamont at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by Neoga meeting Teutopolis at noon.

In the Class 3A Shelbyville Moulton Regional, Mount Zion downed Shelbyville Moulton 10-2. Mount Zion will now face Effingham at 10 a.m. Saturday.

In the second game, Mattoon bounced Paris Mayo 17-4. Mattoon faces Charleston at 11:45 a.m. Saturday.

All winners in Saturday play will advance to sectional action Monday.

At Strasburg

In the conclusion of a postponed game from September 7, Stewardson-Strasburg edged St. Elmo 5-4.

The score was tied at 3-3 after six innings. St. Elmo took a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh but Stew-Stras came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame to win.

Moschenrose had three hits and an RBI for the winners. Overbeck and Kessler had two hits each. Moshenrose picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter with three walks and 11 strikeouts. St. Elmo was led by Siebert with two hits and an RBI and Sperry with two hits.

Jasper County blanked Dieterich 10-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule.

Jasper County held a 2-0 lead until the third then brought home six runs. Nate Meinhart had three singles, while Mitch Jansen had a single and a double and Joey Einhorn a double.
