Aug. 31 Junior High Baseball Roundup

Effingham played host to Dieterich in junior high baseball action Friday and handed the visitors a 14-1 loss in five innings.

The Mustangs edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and Dieterich tied the score in the top of the second. However, Effingham broke the game open with a 13-run bottom half of the inning.

Effingham had 15 hits in the game. Koenig had a single, triple and two RBI while M. Hull had a single, double and three RBI, Bateman a single, triple and an RBI and Morrissey, a single, double and three RBI. Sandifer had three singles and two RBI.

Effingham is now 12-1 on the season.

Neoga edged out to a 3-0 first inning lead and ended up finishing the game in the fourth 16-1.

Neoga had 13 hits in the contest while Butler pitched a one-hitter. Hill had a single, two doubles and two RBI for the winners. Moran had two doubles and four RBI while Butler had three singles, a double and two RBI.

Hunter Seaton had the lone hit for Beecher City with a single.

Salem took a 1-0 first inning lead and led 4-0 after four. T-town came back with three in the fifth, six in the sixth and two in the seventh.

T-town banged out 11 hits in the game. Blake Mette had a single, double and two RBI while Lane Belleville had two singles and Cody Jansen a triple and an RBI. Collin Funneman picked up the pitching win allowing no runs, one hit, no walks and five strikeouts.

In B action Thursday, T-town defeated Sigel St. Michael 5-4.
