Delorse Marie (Kocher) Johnson, 53, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at her home.
Delorse was born May 13, 1972 in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Norman and Wanda (Marshall) Kocher. She married Dusty Johnson on May 28, 2014 in Olney, and he survives. Delorse was a 1990 graduate of Newton High School. She earned her Certified Medical Assistant and her Accounting degree through OCC and worked at CVS in Olney as a pharmacy technician and as a store clerk. During that time, she also worked for Jackson Hewitt as a tax service provider. She worked as a paralegal for Nancy Dryden in Newton for a period of time. More recently, she had worked for Premier Support Services as a Traffic Coordinator. Delorse also volunteered for Carle Hospice for thirteen years. Delorse loved cooking and traveling and being on the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi. She loved her flowers and had a beautiful rose garden. Her favorite music group was Alabama. Her favorite movie was The Wizard of Oz, and she loved The Golden Girls. She was very involved in the community, from participating in the annual White Squirrel Count to picking up trash along the roads. Delorse was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She also loved her pets, Eli, Smokey, and especially her cat, Fluffy, who was often by her side. Most of all, she loved her family, and she will be dearly missed by those that knew her.
Delorse is survived by her husband, Dusty Johnson and their children, Jazzmyn Johnson of Olney, Elizabeth Cook of Olney, Olivia Johnson of Olney; her parents, Wanda and Norman Kocher of Newton; siblings, Anthony Kocher of Frederick, SD, Keith (Kim) Kocher of Newton, Wayne Kocher of Newton, and Janice (Travis) Baltzell of Newton, and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her husband’s infant son, Geoffry; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Georgiann Kocher; maternal grandparents, Dean and Betty Marshall; grandmothers-in-law, Dixie Piper and Thelma Piper, and her best friend, Gina Strelka.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements. A funeral service will be held for Delorse at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney, with a visitation for friends and family beginning at 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney.
