Bulldogs Open Baseball Season w/Win

The St. Anthony Bulldogs got a five-inning win to open their fall baseball season Friday. The Bulldogs downed Odin 8-3 in the rain-shortened contest.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the first but Odin tied the game in the bottom of the frame and then took a 3-2 lead with a run in the bottom of the second.

St. Anthony exploded for five runs in the third inning to take a 7-3 lead and added a run in the fifth.

The Bulldogs rapped out six hits and committed one error. Odin totaled seven hits and committed one miscue

Zach Gardewine went the distance for the win, walking one while striking out nine.

At the plate, everyone in the St. Anthony lineup contributed. Jacob Lorenz walked twice and singled a scored a run; Drew Gibson walked twice and singled, scored a run and drove in a run; Braden Puckett singled twice, scored and drove in a run; Bryar Jansen walked and scored; Zach Gardewine walked and scored; Kyle Bourgeois singled twice, scored and drove in a run; Greg Utz walked; Will Clausius walked and scored; and Brandon Puckett walked twice and scored.
