The magic score for Tuesday evening at Paul Smith Field was 4-1 as Mid-Illinois Concrete and K. Wohltman Construction both picked up victories in the Junior Babe Ruth League Tournament to advance to the title contest.
In the opener, Mid-Illinoisi Concrete defeated Washington Savings Bank. Mid-Illinois took a 1-0 lead in the second then added on two runs in the third and the final run came in the fifth. Washington Savings Bank tallied its lone run in the fifth.
Brent Beals picked up the six-hitter while Jason Kenter suffered a four-hit loss. Those four hits were all singles by Matt Goedde, Zac Bateman, Colby Utz and Chris Cole. Cole had two RBI while Brent Beals had one RBI.
Quincy Aldrich led Washington Savings Bank with a single and double. Keegan Meyer drove in a run and had a single.
K. Wohltman Construction then claimed the victory over Sehy & Jones Optometrists. Sehy & Jones held a 1-0 lead until the third when K. Wohltman tallied three runs then tacked on a final run in the sixth.
Josh Overbeck pitched a five-hitter and aided his own cause with a single, double and triple. Blake Nichols and Brian Ritz had a double each.
Donovan Hammer had a double and Brett Koester two singles and an RBI for Sehy & Jones.
The championshp game between Mid-Illinois Concrete and K. Wohltman Construction will take place today at 7 p.m.
