BABE RUTH 13U TOURNAMENT

Jasper County captured the championship of the Babe Ruth 13U Tournament at Boys & Girls Park in Newton to advance to the Ohio Valley Regional in Somerset, Ky. Jasper County edged Richland County 2-1 Sunday to pick up the victory by scoring a run in the top of the seventh.

In Saturday action, Jasper County edged Effingham 9-8 in eight innings. Richland County blasted Crawford County 13-3. Crawford County ended up with a fourth-place finish. Richland County then met Effingham and edged the homestanders 6-5. Effingham captured third place.

LEGION DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Danville Post 210 handed Shelby County Legion Posts 289-611-725 a 13-3 loss Sunday in District Tournament action in Paris. Danville jumped out to a 3-0 lead and had three runs in the second and eight innings and single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and ninth innings.

Leading Shelby County Legion was Mike Baker with two singles and Brady Walker with a triple. Shelby County is now 26-14 overall and will be back in action Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Paris.
