Spring Training Set To Open Play Today

Cardinals Begin Grapefruit League Play Friday

(Jupiter, FL) -- The Cardinals will hold their final full-squad workout today in Florida before the start of exhibition play. The Redbirds kick off Grapefruit League action Friday against the Miami Marlins. The teams will rematch Saturday at Roger Dean Stadium, with the Cardinals as the "road" team.

Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia is returning to Cardinals' camp in Florida today after receiving a cortisone shot in his left shoulder. Doctors found no structural damage. Garcia had surgery last May for rotator cuff and labrum issues. He's not expected to be ready for Opening Day.

Cubs, Sox Set To Open Spring Ball

The Cubs open their new spring training ballpark today against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The game starts at 2:05 p.m. Jeff Samardjiza takes the hill for Chicago while Bronson Arroyo toes the rubber for Arizona. Meanwhile, the White Sox play the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday to begin the spring slate.
