Cubs Set Rotation Through Five Games

(Mesa, AZ) -- The Cubs are setting their rotation for the first spring games. Jeff Samardzija starts Thursday as the team opens its new stadium. Chris Rusin gets the call Friday while Travis Wood goes Saturday afternoon. Edwin Jackson pitches Saturday night, with Jason Hammel pitching Sunday.


Cards Continue To Gear Up For Games

MLB Implements Experimental Home Plate Collision Rule

(New York, NY) -- Major League Baseball is putting an experimental rule in place regarding home plate collisions for the 2014 season.  Rule 7.13 prevents runners from deviating from their direct path to the plate in order to initiate contact with the catcher. Conversely, catchers will not be allowed to block the pathway of a runner attempting to score without possession of the ball. Instant replay will be available to review potential violations of this rule.
