Joan Klay, 81, of Effingham went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, January 26, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
 
Funeral services for Joan will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 1st at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham with Rev. Theodore C. Gall officiating. Burial is in Oakridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31st at Hall Funeral Chapel in Effingham. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Eagles Nest Preschool Program at St. John’s Church or to the donor’s choice. Condolences may be left online at www.hallfuneralchapel.com.
 
Joan was born on November 2, 1932, in Pana, the daughter of Guy and Lula (Sims) Edwards. She married Jack Klay on September 9, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pana. Joan was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham.
 
Survivors include: husband; Jack, 2 daughters; Karen (Mark) Flach and Karla (Robert) Flach all of Effingham, son; Eric (Jeanetta) Klay of Dieterich, brother; Robert (Barb) Edwards of Paxton, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents.
