Her parents and seven siblings, Thelma Croft, Ivy Croft, Jerald Croft (twin brother), Harvey Croft, Dale Croft, Wilbur Croft and Eileen Powell preceded her in death.  On September 30, 1933, she married Lester R. Wood, also of Effingham, who died in 1993. During their life together, “Jeary and Les” lived in Effingham; Mobile, Alabama; Dublin, IN; and Coraopolis, PA. They returned to Effingham in 1985.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Wood and his wife Marilyn , of Granger, Indiana and four beloved grandchildren, Justin Wood of Nevada City, California, Brendan Wood of San Francisco, California, Adam Wood of Granger, Indiana and Katherine Wood of Bloomington, Indiana. She said her family was her proudest achievement. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
She had a special friend in her sister-in-law Joyce Mietzner of Effingham and was blessed by the companionship of two gentlemen friends after Lester’s passing, Ralph Thoele of Teutopolis and Floyd Phillips of Newton.

Jeraldine loved dancing, playing cards, bowling, fishing, dogs and lots of hot black coffee! She lived independently in her home until June. She talked to and made friends with strangers wherever she went.
