Joanne E. Marlow, 82, of Altamont, died at 7:15 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Altamont with Rev. Willie Deuel officiating. Burial will follow at Arborcrest Memorial Park, rural Effingham. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2013 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
Joanne was born on Friday, January 9, 1931 in West Township, Effingham County, IL to Otto A. and Ruby I. (Reichert) Sidener. She married William Marlow on October 2, 1949; he preceded her in death on January 1, 2000. She was a retired farm wife and factory worker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Altamont where she was a member of the Choir and Ladies Sunshine Class. She was a former Sunday School Teacher at West Point United Methodist Church, rural St. Elmo.
She is survived by her children; James Marlow of Victorville, CA and Jodell O’Leary and husband Roland Dean of Ordway, CO, son-in-law, Donald Verdeyen of Altamont, brother-in-law, Phillip Marlow of St. Elmo, special friend, Thomas Bailey of Valparaiso, IN and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Judith Verdeyen, twin sister, Jeanne Marlow, sister, Arlene Sommer, brother-in-law, Wilfrid Sommer and grandson, Matthew Verdeyen.
