Berthold Lee "Bert" Price, 82, of Newton died Monday, November 11, 2013 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Berthold Lee better know as “Bert” was born on March 26, 1931 in Bim in Boone County, West Virginia, the son of Dayton Denver and Winnie (Sutphin) Price. He married Judith Johnson Jarvis on May 25, 1971 and she survives. Bert served his county in the United States Navy for 23 years. He served during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He also worked in electrical maintenance in the Poway, California school district. Bert was a member of the VFW and Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed fishing and building models.

Bert is survived by: Wife of 42 years – Judith Price of Newton, IL...Children – Stephen Jarvis of San Diego, CA, Michele Jarvis of Springbrook, WI, Rebecca Allen of Manhattan Beach, CA, Melissa Foster of Vista, CA and Tamara Jarvis of Joplin, MO...5 Grandchildren...and a very close extended family of nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Denver Price, Dothard Price and Barry Price and a sister Pauline Price Sharpe.
