Summer L. Monroe (33) of Neoga

Summer Lynn Monroe, 33, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in the Heartland Christian Village of Neoga.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 9 in the First Christian Church of Neoga, with the Rev. Mel Workman of Sullivan and Rev. Brian Miller of Mattoon officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, November 8 in the First Christian Church of Neoga. As per Summer’s wish’s following services, Cremation Rites will be accorded. The Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, is in charge of arrangements. She was born February 15, 1980, in Mattoon, the daughter of Mark and Jody (Shook) Fletcher. Summer was employed as an L.P.N., working for the Sarah Bush Lincoln Clinic of Neoga, a member of the Crossover Church of Mattoon, a member of the Cancer Survivor’s Group and a member of the Neoga High School Dance Team. Summer enjoyed playing softball and all sports, she also enjoyed attending and watching the kids play sports. She married Tim Monroe, November 6, 2004, in Neoga.
She leaves her husband, Tim Monroe of Neoga; two sons, Zachary and Andrew Monroe, both of Neoga; one daughter, Ella Monroe of Neoga; mother, Jody Shook of Neoga and her father, Mark (wife Debbie) Fletcher of Montrose; brother, Michael Fletcher of Sigel; half-sisters, Cassie Marie and Kelsey Jean Fletcher, both of Montrose; step-sister, Misty Lawrence of Jewett; grandparents, Bill and Jan Shook of rural Mattoon and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Sharon Monroe of Neoga.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Betty Fletcher.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Fund, Relay For Life, Coles Co., IL, or to the family for the children’s education.
