Frances M. Luchtefeld (94) of Effingham

Frances "Tank" Luchtefeld, 94, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Willowbrook, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 6 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham. Burial will be in St Anthony Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday before the services at the church. Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, is in charge of arrangements.

Frances was born September 10, 1919, in Effingham, the daughter of Dr. Henry and Ehizabeth (Eversman) Taphorn. She married Harry "Hank" Luchtefeld August 7, 1945, in Effingham, and he preceded her in death August 10, 2010.
Frances was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham, and Council of Catholic Women. She did various volunteer activities with the Effingham County FISH Organization. Frances was a homemaker and in her later years worked for Welcome Wagon. She was an Effingham County Election Judge. Frances enjoyed bowhing, embroidery, crocheting, and playing cards. She was an avid Cardinal fan. She was the oldest hiving graduate of St. Anthony School. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Frances is survived by her children, Paul (wife Sandy) Luchtefeld of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Dr. Dan (wife Sheryl) Luchtefeld of Lexington, KY, Phil (wife Judy) Luchtefe!d of Effingham, Mary Jo (husband Philip) Wendt of Teutopohis, Charlie (wife Karen) Luchtefeld of Effingham, Jerry (wife Jane) Luchtefeld of Edwardsville, Judy Hiza of St. Charles, MO, Rita (husband Dominick) Angarano of Wood River, Dr. Martin (wife Cheri) Luchtefeld of E. Grand Rapids, Ml, Roger wife (Pam) Luchtefeld of St. Louis, MO, Bill (wife Sue) Luchtefeld of Alton, Eric (wife Peggy) Luchtefeld of Kansas City, MO, Henry (wife Julie) Luchtefeld of Morton; 32 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank; one grandchild and four sisters.
