Calvin Runge (82) of Effingham

Calvin Runge, 82, of Effingham died at 5:54pm Friday, October 18, 2013 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 23 at 11am at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter with one hour viewing prior to the service.  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8pm at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter.  Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in St. Peter.

He was born on July 27, 1931 in St. Peter, the son of Edward and Bertha (Grandt) Runge.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church.  He married Doris E. Kroening on June 28, 1953 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Altamont.  They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 28, 2013.  He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.  For many years, he drove a milk route and serviced farms with Dixie and Nutrena Feeds and mobile feed grinding throughout South Central Illinois.  He drove a school bus for 17 years for Farina LaGrove School District.  He and wife Doris managed The Grub House, General Store and Gas for 13 years and retired from farming in 2000.  He loved bowling, horseshoes, square dancing, playing cards, classic cars and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Doris...son, Mark Runge and wife Shanna of Effingham...daughter, Connie Guyman and husband Jamie of Mattoon...five grandchildren, Brittany Lybarger, John Alexander McCormick, Tucker Denton of Effingham, LCpl Levi Robinson, US Marines, and Sean Alexander great-granddaughter...three brothers, Edward Runge and wife Pat of College Station, Texas, Robert Runge and wife Sandra of St. Peter, and Clyde Runge and wife Nancy of Tuscola...and sister-in-law, Dorothy Runge of Robinson.

He was preceded in death by his, Wendell Runge...and grandson, Chrisopher Runge.
