Janet M. Funneman, 77 of Teutopolis, joined her husband in eternal life at 6:30 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at the church with a ladies sodality rosary beginning at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Janet was born August 19, 1936 in Brownstown, the daughter of Lee and Melvina (Cearlock) Sapp. She graduated from St. Elmo High School in 1954. Janet married James R. Funneman on October 15, 1955 in Teutopolis and he preceded her in death in 1987. She retired as secretary from J.B. Esker & Sons after 12 years. Janet was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and the Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed delivering “meals on wheels” and was an avid Cubs baseball and Illinois basketball fan. Janet enjoyed playing bingo, gambling on the boat, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Janet is survived by her six children, Doug (Terri) Funneman of Teutopolis, Pam (Mike) Mathy of Effingham, Angela Borrelli of Flora, Michael (Cindy) Funneman of Teutopolis, Craig (Laurie) Funneman of Effingham and Marsha Funneman of Springfield; 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Funneman; step-father, Harold Marcott and brother, Jack Sapp.
