Edgar N. Albert, 87, of Hidalgo, IL passed away at 3:50 PM on August 30, 2013 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday September 3rd 2013 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 on Tuesday at the funeral chapel prior to the service. Burial will Military Rites will be in the Hays Cemetery rural Hidalgo, IL.
Edgar was born on November 4, 1925 in Hidalgo, IL to Elmer & Edna Pearl (Cummins) Albert. He married Dorothy Tiemann on March 16, 1947.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years; Sons Daniel (Kathy) Albert of New Lennox, IL, Carl Albert of Effingham, David (Trish) Albert of Neoga and William (Barbara) Albert of Shumway, IL; Brothers Kenneth Albert of Hidalgo, Chester Albert of Greenup, Fred Albert of Green Creek, IL and Jim Albert of Lapeer, MI; Sister Mildred Carter of Hidalgo; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Edgar was a Lieutenant correctional officer in the Joliet prison system for 25 years. He had also worked at Trailmoblie. He was in the US Army during World War II serving in the European Theater from 1943 to 45. He was member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Casey, IL, the Greenup V.F.W. post #4598 and the Greenup American Legion post # 566.
