Charity Alice Thompson, age 92, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away at 12:47 am Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the Greentree Assisted Living and Memory Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Charity was born October 17, 1932, in Bible Grove, Illinois, the daughter of Noah and Lillian (Harmon) Lewis. Charity was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Thompson on January 15, 1955, and they shared 49 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 29, 2004. Charity was a woman of unwavering faith and quiet strength. A lifelong member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Flora, she found solace and community within its walls. Her dedication extended beyond her faith, as she was a proud member of the Louisville American Legion Auxiliary Post 914, demonstrating her commitment to service and camaraderie. Charity's professional life showcased her diligence and organizational skills. She worked for Argon National Laboratory in Chicago before returning to her beloved Clay County. There, she served as a secretary for IDEA, contributing her talents and dedication to the community she cherished.

Charity is survived by her son: Thomas "Tom" Thompson of Louisville; 4 grandchildren: Jacob Eugene Thompson, Michael Thompson, Angela Thompson, and Nolan Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons: Joseph Eugene Thompson, and Charles "Chuck" Thompson; siblings: Alvie Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Ronald Lewis, Lowell Lewis, Glen Lewis, Davis Lewis, Laurel Carter, and Margaret Zink.

Funeral services to celebrate Charity's life will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with Carroll Ross officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charity's memory to the Donor's Choice. The McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville is honored to be entrusted with the family's care and arrangements.
