Albert J. Sowers, age 84, of rural Jewett, IL, passed away at 1:50 AM on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his wife and family and we rejoice that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Jewett Community Church in Jewett, IL. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Jewett Community Church. Viewing is also available one hour before the funeral service begins. Burial will be in the Island Creek Cemetery in rural Montrose, IL.

Albert was born on February 17, 1941, in Jasper County to parents Otis “Joe” and Evalena (Huisinga) Sowers. Albert married Carolyn L. Robinson on February 25, 1962. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn; sons Todd (Karen) Sowers of Lerna, IL, Shawn (Valerie) Sowers of Rossville, IN, and Troy (Michele) Sowers of Peoria, IL; grandchildren Eric (Andrea) Sowers of Chesterfield, MO, Emily Homer of Arthur, IL, Dr. Adam (Sadie) Sowers, PhD, of Copenhagen, Denmark, Aaron Sowers of Chicago, IL, Madison (Wes) Delks of Michigantown, IN, Logan Sowers of San Diego, CA, Dr. Adrienne Sowers, MD (fiancé Noah Karver), of Charleston, WV, Lindsay (Ben) Smith of Roseville, CA, Lt. Kayla Sowers (fiancé Lt. Alex Cordes) of San Diego, CA; great grandchildren Riley and Oliver Sowers, Haley and Emma Homer, Raylan and Rowan Sowers, Ben and William Albert Delks, and one on the way; brothers Larry (Carol) Sowers of Jewett, IL, Robert Sowers of St. Louis, MO, and sister Marlene (LD) of Montrose, IL.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons Brian and Brad, sisters Virginia (Roy) Goebel, Janet (Raymond) Pitcher, Joann (Oliver) Corbin, and Carolyn (Doyle) Webb; and sister-in-law Joan Sowers.

Albert was a former member of First Assembly of God church in Mattoon, IL; current member of Jewett Community Church in Jewett, IL. Over the years, Albert has served faithfully as a board member, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and mentor. Albert worked for a Caterpillar dealership for twenty years. He was the resident service man for sixteen years in Coles and the surrounding counties. In 1985, he and son, Todd, started S&S Service Co in Mattoon, IL. He loved being a mechanic and working with Todd. Albert loved the outdoors, working in his flowers, landscaping and feeding the birds. He was a wonderful and loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandkids through the years, including watching them play in sports and other activities.
