Carol was born on May 14, 1952 in Vandalia, Illinois the daughter of George and Marguirite Donaldson. She married John Britton on December 20, 1969 in Pana, Illinois and he survives. Carol was an avid baker and cook. She ran and owned the Hometown Bakery in Herrick, Illinois. Our favorite thing was always making Mom laugh, so let's play a quick round of "Two Truths and a Lie" about Carol. First, family was everything to her—she made sure we stayed close and got together as often as possible. Second, Mom was an amazing cook, and family get-togethers usually revolved around her delicious meals. And lastly, Carol was a fantastic storyteller, able to paint the most vivid pictures with her words (okay, maybe not—her "stories" often ended with us wondering where they were going). We’ll miss her humor, her love, and of course, telling us five different stories at the same time.
Carol is survived by her husband, John of Herrick; children, Jana Britton of Beecher City, Illinois, Julie and Jeff VanWinkle of Martinsville, Indiana, and Matthew and Lori Britton of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Brianna and Shane Wilkinson of Shelbyville, Illinois, Amber and Brandon Skowronski of Shelbyville, Illinois, Brady and Katie Randall of Herrick, Illinois, Jaycie Randall of Beecher City Illinois, Brionna Wilkinson of Shelbyville, Illinois, and Jett Randall of Cowden, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Ella Prather, Britton Wilkinson, Grace Skowronski, Jackson Belcher, Maren Skowronski, Hazel Randall, Oakley Belcher and Cohen Randall; and sister, Diane Donaldson of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bob, Jim, Margaret, Dean, Mary Ellen, Janet, Cathy Jo, and Sandy.
