Wanda E. Bower (94) of Wheeler

Wanda Ellen Bower, age 94, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 8:10 AM - Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.

A funeral service celebrating Wanda’s life will be held at 10:30 AM - Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rev. Danny Farris officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service (9:30-10:30 AM). The burial will be in the Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois. Wanda was born on August 20, 1930, in Oblong, Illinois, the daughter of Freeman and Flossie (VanWinkle) White. She married Gerald Bower on December 12, 1948, in Newton, Illinois; and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2020. Wanda had worked at Jourdan’s Market and was a Mary Kay consultant. For many years she assisted her husband on the family farm. Wanda was a longtime member of the Newton Christian Church. She enjoyed crocheting and was a wonderful cook. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wanda is survived by: Children – Ron (Kathy) Bower of Vincennes, Indiana; Bob (Dee) Bower of Wheeler, Illinois and Gloria Lamb of Ellenton, Florida. Wanda was very proud of her 9 Grandchildren and many Great and Great-Great Grandchildren. She also loved her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Marion White and Ken White, sisters Wilma White, Delores White and Ruby Paddock and a granddaughter Kim Dasenbrock Schrenker.
