Isar Tracy Logsdon, affectionately known as Tracy, passed away peacefully at his home in Cowden, Illinois, on January 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on May 14, 1936, in St. Elmo, Tracy was the son of James Elmer Sr and Margaret Rachael (Burrus) Logsdon. Tracy's journey through life was one marked by love and companionship. On September 3, 1966, he married Daisy G. Miller, who survives him, a testament to their enduring partnership.

Together, they raised a family, including their daughter, Stacy (Douglas) Deters of Teutopolis, daughter-in-law, Becky Bowden; nine grandchildren: Megan (Jordan) York, John (Kendra) Logsdon, Rachel (Chris) Carner, Madison Deters, Alyson Deters, Brittany Deters, Ryan Deters, Haley (Jake) Herboth and Jessica Deters; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Iva Fringer of Pana and many nieces and nephews. Tracy’s family was his greatest joy and he will be dearly missed by all.

Tracy was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tracy Logsdon; brothers Joe, Tom, Ed, Art, Leonard, Jimmy and sisters, Vesta Denton, Connie Parrish and Roxanna Perry.

A proud veteran, Tracy served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. His dedication to his nation was a core part of his identity and instilled in him a sense of purpose and discipline that he carried into his civilian life. After his military service, Tracy embarked on a career that saw him work at Borg Warner in Decatur and Mallory Switch in Pana. He eventually retired from PPG Industries in Mt. Zion after 20 years of service. Tracy's interests reflected his love for the outdoors and history. An avid mushroom hunter and horseshoe player, he found joy in the simple pleasures of nature. His fondness for rabbit hunting with his beagles was matched by his enthusiasm for watching the History Channel and old westerns. Tracy also had a unique talent for witching for water and took great satisfaction in visiting old cemeteries, where he dedicated time to genealogy and preserving history by replacing old headstones or marking unmarked graves. His actions spoke to a deep respect for those who came before him and a desire to ensure their memories were not forgotten.

A graveside service to honor Tracy's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Cowden. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and caregivers from Veterans Affairs and especially to Tracy's special caregiver and dear friend, Jeanie Brown of Help at Home, whose kindness and support were a source of comfort in his final days.
