Denise Lynn Reed (67) of Shelbyville

Denise Lynn Reed, 67, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 11:08 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2025, in her residence.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Nathan Woolery officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. A private burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Saving Orphaned Animals or American Cancer Society.

Denise was born on February 21, 1957, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Jesse I. and Ruth (Cress) Reed. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1975 and earned her associates degree from Lake Land College. Denise was employed by the Decatur Public Schools for 38 years, where she worked with computer programming, payroll, and report cards. Denise enjoyed playing in bowling leagues, attending tractor pulls and caring for her many beloved cats. She was a dedicated election judge and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville, IL.

She is survived by her brother, Darrell Cress (Doris) of Effingham, IL; four nephews, John Cress (Lisa) of Strasburg, IL, Steven Johnston (Kristin) ofShelbyville, IL, Aaron Johnston (Christy) of Springfield, IL, and Eric Johnston (Megan) of Waukee, IA; and great nieces and nephews, Dale Johnston, Kaylynne Johnston, Madeline Johnston, Kate Johnston, Lexi Johnston, Beckham Johnston, Cohen Johnston, Andrew Cress and Megan Hartke (Cole).

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Janice S. Johnston.
