Mary Ellen Denton, age 77, of Beecher City, Illinois entered eternal life in the early hours of Friday, January 3, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Kaskaskia Church with a visitation from 1:30 p.m. until time of service. Nick Robertson will be officiating. Interment will be at Kaskaskia Church Cemetery. Memorials may go to Kaskaskia Church or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.
Mary was born on October 2, 1947 in St. Elmo, Illinois, the daughter of Morris and Esta (Guthrie) Durbin. She married Keith E. Denton on April 18, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Elmo. She was a member of Kaskaskia Church in Beecher City. Mary enjoyed her role as a women’s Bible study teacher. She loved to spend her time painting, walking, and making long lasting memories with her family and friends. She was an avid animal lover. Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Keith E. Denton of St. Elmo; son, Rodney K. Denton (wife Natalie) of Altamont; daughters, Valerie S. Schmitt of Highland and Melissa A. Carson (husband Bud) of St. Elmo; sisters, Ethel Moody of Chicago and Betty Springman (husband Bill) of Brownstown; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Esta Durbin; brother, Dennis Durbin; sisters, Dorothy Seibert, Marie Kilzer, Alice Meseke, Esta Durbin, and Rita Durbin in infancy.
