Beulah R. Ross, 86, of Beecher City, Illinois passed away at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Per the family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Second Chance Animal Rescue or the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences can be expressed by clicking here.
Beulah Ruth Forbes was born February 9, 1938 in Post Oak, Fayette County, Illinois to Arthur and Leona “Ruth” (Sarver) Forbes, the oldest of 12 children. She was united in marriage to Harold Louis Ross June 24, 1956; together they shared 66 years of marriage before his passing November 28, 2022. In her younger years, Beulah waitressed at various restaurants in the area. She was later employed by the Beecher City News Journal, where she worked for 13 years and then TSI Graphics, where she was a line and type operator, retiring after 25 years of employment. Beulah also obtained her GED, an accomplishment she was very proud of. At home, on the farm in Beecher City, she and Harold raised their only daughter Kathy.
Beulah loved the outdoors and being a farmer’s wife; she had an avid love for all animals and they seemed to know she was a gentle soul. Beulah loved chihuahua’s, riding horses with friends and family, milking goats, and spending time in the barn. She cherished every moment spent with her family, especially Saturdays when they would gather in Post Oak.
Mrs. Ross is survived by her daughter, Kathy and husband Charles Depew of Brownstown; brothers, Paul Forbes of Chatham and Bob Forbes and wife Linda of Mt. Vernon; sisters, Mary Lou and husband Leslie Jennings of Fountaintown, Ind, Elaine and husband Greg Lilly of Mode, Sue and husband Roger Scholes of Brownstown, Dottie and husband Bobby Austin of Ramsey, Faye and husband Virgil Williams of Brownstown; brother-in-law, Kevin Wright of Brownstown; sisters-in-law, Roberta Forbes of St. Elmo and Bertha Ross Dehnke of Rapid City, SD; grandson, Shane Depew and wife Kiley of Vandalia; granddaughter, Melissa and husband David Barker of Brownstown; great-grandchildren, Moriah and husband Kyle Adermann, Skylar Depew and wife Maddie, Briley Depew, Kohnor Depew, Dawson Barker with Peyton Hilpipre, Madilynn and husband Isaac Hebenstreit, and Levi Barker with Zoie Wemple; great-great-grandchildren, Kaleb Adermann, McKenna Adermann, Ella Depew, Olivia Depew, Evadean Hebenstreit, John Hebenstreit, Hazel Hebenstreit, and Averie Barker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Darrel Forbes, Hadley Forbes, and Marvin Forbes; sister, Bertha Mae Wright; and two infant sisters.
