Richard Allen Stanfield, 76, of Louisville, IL, entered the gates of heaven at 8:57p.m. Tuesday September 10, 2024, at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Richard was born, Tuesday, December 2, 1947, to Riley and Joyce (Farris) Stanfield. On May 7, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart Karen Bailey, and there is no doubt that his love and dedication to his wife was his motivation in life. They were blessed with three children, Jeffrey, Michele, and Lisa, who brought much joy and light into their lives. Throughout these 58 years of marriage, they aspired to keep God the focus of their marriage and family, which built a strong foundation that has set the tone for not only their children and marriage, but the many generations that have followed them. Richard set a solid example of faith, love, and honesty not only to his family but the world around him. Richard found joy in hard work, so we know he cherished the many years of the Stanfield Construction business that him and his beloved son, Jeff, ran together. He was our gentle and wise leader who also doubled as a handy man who could fix it all, and a master chef of the best breakfast and homemade pies around. Richard’s favored role was being well known as “Papaw” to not only his 8 granddaughters and single grandson, but to many others within the community who adored his loving guidance. He desired to be outside tending to his garden/canning, restoring any vehicle that had an engine, camping and fishing, and most of all, anything that involved family togetherness.

Richard is survived by his wife Karen Stanfield of Louisville, his daughters, Michele (Mark) Lovett, and Lisa (Todd) Fender, daughter-in-law, Angie Stanfield, siblings, Rodger(Beverly)Stanfield, Jack(Freda)Stanfield, Caroline Zink; Nine Grandchildren Shayla (Jason)Ruelas, Kortney (Tyler) Jacobs, Mikayla (Garrett) Rubsam, Miranda Lovett, Michael Lovett (Fiancé Abby Schnautz), Madison (Tanner) Gordon, Allison (Jonah) Slifer, Maggie Fender, Danielle (Tyler) Walke, and seven great grandkids, Wrenly Ruelas, Jackson and Huxley Slifer, Jefferson and Adlee Jacobs, Anisten and Marley Sue Rubsam, In-laws Bob and Jean Bailey, Joyce Reehoff, Fred Bailey, Bill and Jean Bailey, Don and Shirley Bailey, Randy and Becky Bailey, and Doris Stanfield.

He is Preceded in death by his son Jeff Stanfield, brother David Stanfield, parents Riley and Joyce Stanfield, mother and father-in-law, Ervin and Marjorie Bailey, and brother-in-law Darrell Bailey.
