Doris was born to Tony and Marie (Andrews) Hagan on March 28, 1933 in Neoga. She married Rev. Lawrence T. Jones on June 2, 1953. They were married for 50 years before his passing in 2004. Recently recognized for 70 years of ministry, Doris devoted her life to being a servant of God. At a young age, she felt the call of God and began evangelizing, eventually meeting and marrying her soulmate and partner through their journeys of service. Together, they planted the first Apostolic Church in Effingham. Her love for the Lord was above all else, and her faith everlasting.
With an ever-present smile, Doris walked through life giving more than she ever took. She was a tender source of wisdom and encouragement, believing that "happiness can be obtained by helping or doing something for others." She lived her life in relentless gratitude. To know her was a blessing, forever better for her love. Doris' family was her pride and joy, the start and end to each day. Everyone's "Meme," Doris dedicated most of her days to her grandchildren. Laughs and lessons were never in short supply. Her home was the place of gathering. She was the first and last person in the kitchen, nourishing her family with memories that will live forever. Her family was made rich because of her love and commitment to their happiness. And now, an everlasting reward after a life well served, to spend her eternal life with her best friend and Savior, Jesus, and reunite with her husband Lawrence, Mother, and Father. Doris was a proud member of Calvary Tabernacle Church in Toledo.
Survivors include her sons Kendall (Julia) Jones & Nathan (Dianna) Jones, both of Effingham; grandchildren, Kara (Adriel) Fuentes of Dyer, IN., Sarah (Jenn) Hudson of Eugene, OR., Rebecca (James) Powers of Savoy, IL., Tony (Larissa) Jones of Worden, IL., and Ryan Jones of Edwardsville, IL; her great-grandchildren, Ethan & Makayla Fuentes, Sydney Powers, Josephine, Tyler, and Adelayne Jones, and Veda & Euan Hudson.
