Myrna Carolyn (Hetzel) Hackman, 88, of Mattoon, IL, formerly of Effingham, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Palm Terrace of Mattoon, Mattoon, IL.

Private services will be held with burial in Funkhouser Cemetery. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.

Myrna was born on March 1, 1936, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Reginald and Stella (Byrum) Hetzel. Myrna was a devoted mother, daughter and sister as family was everything to her. She retired from General Electric of Mattoon. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed playing Bunco. She also loved watching the Cardinals baseball team play.

Myrna is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Greg) Crowdson of Sullivan; sons, Doug Hackman of Mattoon and Brad (Susan) Hackman of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Gwen (Andy) Janes, Ben Hackman, Megan Hackman, Jessica Hackman, and Devin Hackman; great-grandson, Theodore Janes; sister, Janet (Ron) Hart; and brothers, Ronald (Linda) Hetzel, Gail (Terry) Hetzel, Glen Hetzel, and Dean (Betty) Hetzel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Martha Ellen Hetzel and June Ashley; sister-in-law, Ann (Glen) Hetzel; niece, Jody Hetzel; and nephews, Keith and Don Hetzel and Roger Ashley.
