Doris N. "Sis" Jones (85) of Effingham

Doris N. “Sis” Jones, 85, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery in Watson. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Doris was born on August 10, 1938, in Effingham County, the daughter of William Marvin and Laura B. (Walls) Klein. She married Henry H. “Herb” Jones on April 20, 1968, and he preceded her in death on October 17, 2006. Doris was an LPN for 50 years, working for St. Anthony Hospital and various nursing homes throughout her career. She and Herb spent a short time living in Houston, TX until his retirement, which is when they returned home. She was a caring mother who enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, and playing cards with her family. Doris had a good sense of humor and was known to be witty. She was also a huge Alan Jackson fan.

Doris is survived by her children, Rhea (Greg) Webb of Effingham and Ron (Julie) Shamhart of Effingham; grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Webb of Teutopolis, Cody (Amy) Webb of Watson, Bruce Shamhart of Effingham, and Clare Shamhart of Effingham; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Leonard (Fran) Klein of Homosassa, FL, Clifford (Mary) Klein of Effingham, James (Carol) Klein of Effingham, Thomas (Brenda) Klein, of Effingham, and Patricia (Leon) Wohltman of Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herb; son, Mark Cable; grandson, Blake Shamhart; sisters, Polly (Richard) Winterrowd, Rita (Ron) Short, and Margie (Leon) Fulk; and brother, Charles (Sheila) Klein.
