Patricia S. Mathias, 83, of Beecher City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga.

Born on June 13, 1941, in Xenia, Patricia was the daughter of Sharol and Opal (Cooper) Miller.

Patricia was blessed with five children, Terri (Robert) Wagner of St. Augustine, Florida, Darryl Durbin of Beecher City, and James Durbin of Lewisville, Texas. On January 12, 1972, Patricia married James H. Mathias and from that union they were blessed with Bruce (Aimee) Mathias of Smithville, Tennessee and Jennifer Spivey, deceased. Her legacy continues to live on through her 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and her siblings: Helen Franklin, Mary Ann White, Sharol Miller Jr., Jane Long, Jack Miller, Ronald Miller, and David Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Jennifer Spivey, and brother, Paul Miller.

Patricia worked for the Beecher City School District as a custodian and bus driver for over 20 years, retiring in 1995. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed gardening and canning alongside her parents and raising horses. Above all, Patricia cherished the time she spent with her family.

While Patricia's wishes were for no services to be held, her life will be celebrated every day through the lives of her family and the many people she touched. Her kindness, her laughter, and her love are the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy that will be cherished and honored for generations to come. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family.
