Reverend “Jack” Martin, 91 of Hueytown, AL. formerly of St. Elmo, IL passed away at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in Self Health Care & Rehab, Hueytown, AL.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday June 18, 2013, at Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church (formerly Post Oak Church), with burial in the Post Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services in the church.

Reverend Jack was born on December 1, 1921, in Philipp, Mississippi, the son of Grandville M. Martin Sr. and Elizabeth Stubbs Martin. He married Rachel A. Watson on June 12, 1955 in Glenwood, Mississippi. She passed away on December 16, 2001.  He was a minister of the Southern Illinois Conference United Methodist Ministries. Rev. Jack was pastor at the Four Circuit Churches in the St. Elmo area at Fairview, Prairieview, Post Oak and Locust Grove United Methodist Church from 1957 to 1994. He attained two master degrees from Duke and Mississippi State Universities. His memberships include: North Carolina Conference United Methodist Minister since 1957, 1961-1964 Missionary in Anchor Point, Alaska, 1969 Southern Illinois Conference, U. S. Naval Seabee WWII, Ancient Scottish Rite AF & AM Zion #81 in Trenton, N.C., and the Ainad Temple in East St. Louis, MO.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters: Lucille Pentecost and Marjorie Bowie and brothers: Grandville Martin Jr. and C. J. Martin.
