Patrick Andrew Leach, age 76, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away on Friday, February 3, surrounded by family in St. Elmo.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, at Pagel Funeral Homes in St. Elmo, with a two hour visitation prior to service. Jim Giffin will be officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo. Military Rites will be observed. Memorials may go to Effingham Humane Society, Wounded Warriors, or the donor’s choice. Patrick was born on November 25, 1946 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of James Curtis and Emma (Finkeldei) Leach. He married Judith Kay Bail on June 8, 1977 in Effingham. Patrick served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, mushroom hunting, photography, and spending quality time with his family and friends, most importantly, his children and grandchildren. Patrick was a volunteer on the St. Elmo Fire Department for several years, and also a member of the St. Elmo Lion’s Club.
He is survived by his sons, Corey Wiegand (wife Vonda) of Springfield, Terry “Chip” Wiegand (wife Kim) of Spencer, Iowa, and Andrew Leach (wife Jennifer) of Belleville; sister, Mary Ann Breeden of Owensboro, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Leatha Newberry (husband Dee) of St. Elmo, and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Emma Leach; beloved wife, Judith Leach; in-laws, Dewey and Elizabeth Bail.
