Paul L. Fancher, 78 of Mason, died at 5:54 AM Friday, May 31, 2013 in his home.

A graveside service, conducted by Mark R. White, will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Mason Cemetery, Mason followed by military rites. Memorials are requested to the American Heart Assn. Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood is handling arrangements.

Paul was born on May 15, 1935 in Clay County, IL the son of Earl L. and Dora B. (Wilson) Fancher. He married Carol Ann Kuhlman on March 15, 1958 and she preceded him on June 12, 2012. He was a retired oilfield driller and a U.S. Army veteran. Paul enjoyed hunting mushrooms and ginseng with his family. He was always helping his grandchildren and other people.

Surviving are his children, John and William Fancher of rural Farina, Susan (husband, Gail) Bissell, James (wife, Donna) Fancher, Sally Gouchenouer, and Luther Fancher all of Mason; 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; and sister Linnie (husband, Dale) Webster of rural Farina.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son; Douglas, parents; brothers, Kenneth Wilson, Earl Fancher, Robert Fancher, and Richard “Pood” Fancher; and sisters, Edith McElyea and Lois White.
