Dorothy Belle Sanders (83) of Effingham

Dorothy Belle Sanders, 83, of rural Effingham, went home to be with her Lord, on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 6:45 p.m. at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be 12 PM Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Watson United Methodist Church, Watson with burial to follow at Watson Cemetery. Visitation is 2 hours prior to service time at the church. Memorials are requested to the Watson United Methodist Church or their Ladies Group.

Dorothy was born on February 8, 1930 in West Frankfort, Illinois, the daughter of John and Lona (Taylor) Broy.  She married Donald Sanders in 1949 in Benton, Illinois; he preceded her in death on April 20, 2012.  Dorothy graduated from West Frankfort High School.  She was a homemaker, dedicating her life to her family.  She was a generous, thoughtful and loving mother, grandmother and aunt. Dorothy was a member of the Watson Methodist Church, and was a life-long woman of faith and prayer.  She loved the simplest of God’s creations flowers, animals, and especially her dog Buck.

Surviving are five sons, Dave (Mary) Sanders of Chatham, Dan (Vivian) Sanders of Watson, Duane Sanders of Effingham, Derek (Debbie) Sanders and Douglas (Leslie) Sanders of rural Effingham; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also left to grieve her loss are several very close nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by all those who knew, and loved her.

Her parents and eight siblings also preceded her in death.
