David R. Teets, 81, of Montrose died at 2:37am Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM – Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Jewett Community Church with Irvin Figgins officiating.  Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery in Jewett, IL with full military rites by the Cumberland County Veterans Association.  Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup, IL.  Memorials may be made to the Jewett Community Church.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.blakefh.com.

David was born on November 21, 1931 in Farmington, MO the son of Chester “Joe” and Nellie (Sides) Teets.  David served his county in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954.  David retired from Howell Asphalt after 29 years of services and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local Union #841.  David attended the Jewett Community Church in Jewett, IL.  He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and his dogs and cats.

David is survived by: Brothers – Robert (June) Teets of Jewett, IL; William Teets of Montrose, IL and John Teets of Edgewood, IL...Sisters – Marjorie Caroni of Wildwood, IL; Patricia Klingler of Rhinelander, WI; Clara (James) Albert of Lapeer, MI; Alta (Hallett) Hess of Ladysmith, WI; Jonell Bell of Effingham, IL and Ruby Rankin of Altamont, IL.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

David was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sister-in-laws Madonna Teets and Angela Teets.
