Madonna Klier age 82, of Newton, Illinois passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services celebrating Madonna’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, Newton with Rev. Steve Willis officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday, August 25 in the church. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton.

Madonna was born on December 16, 1939, at the family home near Bogota, Illinois the daughter of Dee and Viola (Meyer) Johnson. On May 28, 1958, Madonna married Lawrence D. Klier. In addition to being a wife and mother, Madonna was Lawrence’s number one farm hand for over twenty years. In later years, she was a secretary at Newton Community High School until her retirement. Madonna was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Madonna and Lawrence followed the activities of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and were always their biggest fans. Madonna enjoyed bowling; belonging to the Tuesday Ladies League. She and Lawrence enjoyed gospel music and attending the gospel quartet sings. No matter where she went, Madonna loved to visit with people because she “never met a stranger.”

Madonna will be loved and remembered by her husband of sixty-four years Lawrence Klier of Newton; children, Kent (Chris) Klier of Newton, Bruce (Denise) Klier of Neosho, MO and Gail Ann (Curt) Collins of Newton; grandchildren, Kyle (Courtney) Klier of Newton, Mark Klier of Newton, Brooke (Adam) Wolf of Newton, Jarrod (Jenna) Klier of O’Fallon, IL, Ryan (Whitney) Klier of Newton, Erica Klier (Dustin West) of Nixa, MO, Dexter Klier of Neosho, MO and Payton Klier of Springfield, MO; Jordan (Adria) Collins of Newton, Brandon (Kelsey) Collins of Newton and Morgan Collins of Newton; twentythree great grandchildren and a great grandchild coming in March; siblings Ruth Hutchison of Colorado Springs, CO; Lois Strole of Newton, Delain (Wilma) Johnson of Urbana, Paul Johnson of Newton, Zana (Kendall) Tarr of Newton and Cheryl (Bill) Dunn of Myrtle Beach, SC and brother-in-law Dwight (Debe) Klier of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Greg Klier, great-grandchild Nico West, siblings Donald Johnson, Cloyce Johnson, Rita Pickens and father and mother-in-law Paul and Imogene Klier.
