Larry E. Milleville, 74, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 15, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, August 14  at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Larry was born August 22, 1947, in Vandalia, Illinois, the first child of Louis and Mildred (Beccue) Milleville. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia J. Winter August 3, 1968 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Altamont.

Larry served his country in the United States Air Force between 1966-1970 with the 49th Tactical Fighter Wing stationed at Spangdahlem Air Base, Spangdahlem, Germany and later at Holloman Air Base in New Mexico, achieving the rank of Sergeant (E-4) as Jet Engine Mechanic and Crew Chief.

Larry graduated from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces with a degree in Business Management. He was employed by K-Mart Corp. for nearly 13 years and was transferred to Chicago, Iowa, and Wisconsin. He then moved to Effingham in 1986 and worked at Bahrns Equipment in Industrial Sales.

Larry served as a 4-H leader for 12 years, served as Band Booster President for six years, member of the Triple A Tractor Club, a volunteer at the Cross at the Crossroads, and was an active participant in the Mill Road Thresherman’s Association, an antique tractor/farming club co-founded by his father Louis. He and Pat enjoyed playing pinochle with their card club. 

Larry was very involved with St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham serving as a head usher for his crew and was a devout follower of Christ. He had a kind and gentle spirit and always willing to help in any way. Larry was always helping his family in different ways and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whether helping with 4-H projects or attending youth baseball games.

Larry and his wife Pat loved putting together numerous jigsaw puzzles. He also loved listening to his vast music collection, rooting for the Green Bay Packers as well as attending two Packers games at Lambeau Field, doing word searches, called every morning to the 98.3 FM music trivia contest, and enjoyed running his HO model trains. He received numerous compliments on his manicured lawn and on his Christmas lights. He and Pat recently returned from their trip to Alaska Inside Passage on American Cruise Line. They also enjoyed traveling by air, chartered bus, or car to California, Florida, Wisconsin, Arizona, and New Mexico. 

He is survived by his wife, Pat Milleville; children, Brian Milleville (Stephanie) and Sara (Ryan) Jennings; grandchildren, Ashley, Luke, Atticus, and Adia; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Nolan, Eli and Teddy; siblings, Kenneth (Judy) Milleville, Tim (Deanna) Milleville, Randy (Rosa) Milleville, Karen Dall, and Doris Woehr; brother-in-law, Howard (Deb) Winter as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  

He was preceded in death by parents; in-laws, Samuel and Gertrude (Hoffmeister) Winter, Marvin and Marilyn (Winter) Wendling, Larry Woehr, Jerry Dall and Loren Alwardt; and his beloved dogs, Prince, Skippy, and Patches II.
