L. Ray Tish (83) of St. Elmo

L. Ray Tish, 83, of St. Elmo, died at 9:25 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2022, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Pee Wee Denton officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to HSHS Hospice or the donor’s choice.

Ray was born on Thursday, May 5, 1938 in St. Elmo to Preston and Gail (Logue) Tish. He married Betty Evans on October 31, 1960 and she preceded him in death in 2008. He was retired from ADM and had previously been a truck driver.

He is survived by; his son, Danny (Edwina) Tish, St. Elmo; daughter, Susan Abendroth, Effingham; brother, Delano ‘Doc’ (Una) Tish; sister, Darlene (Benny) Forbes, St. Elmo; grandchildren, Larry (Krysta) Tish, Dustin Tish, Heather (Tom) Newburn, Evan, Austin, Kenny and Jared Abendroth; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Jaxson and Torin Tish and Sabrine and Henry Newburn.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by; brothers, Glen and Dwight Tish.
