Laura Beth (Wheeler) Knierim (77) of Effingham

Laura Beth (Wheeler) Knierim, 77, of Effingham, IL, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2022 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham surrounded by her family.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Jackson Township Baptist Church, 8458 E. 875th Ave, Altamont, IL. Burial will be in Little Prairie Cemetery, Jackson Township. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to the services at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Laura was born on October 15, 1944, Effingham, the daughter of Jonathan and Irene (Davis) Wheeler. She married Gerald Knierim on July 14, 1962 in Effingham.

Laura found joy going on mission trips helping the less fortunate. She also enjoyed quilting and collecting angels. In her younger years, Laura was an avid bowler. She was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Grandchildren were important to Laura, and she loved spending time with them. She also liked to go camping and fishing. Laura also enjoyed the wagon rides she took with her husband.

Laura is survived by her husband, Gerald E. Knierim; children, Johnnie L. Knierim and Kevin R. (wife Tanya) Knierim; grandchildren, Kaleb J. Knierim, Kaitlyn R. Knierim, Lucian A. Kinney, and Karissa P. Kinney; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Kinney and Gentry Kinney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonathan and Irene Wheeler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd J. and Lucille Knierim; sister, Norma J. Wheeler; brother, Ray Wheeler; brother-in-law, Lloyd “Edward” Knierim; sisters-in-law, Shirley Wheeler, Peggy Knierim, and Lois Knierim; and niece, Susan Crooker.
