Jerome W. Pruemer (82) of Effingham

Jerome W. Pruemer, 82, of Effingham died at 4:22 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at his home in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery with military rites. Visitation wil be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 6:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Jerome was born July 16, 1929 in Effingham, the son of Bernard A. and Florence (Brummer) Pruemer. He married Marilyn D. Baker July 17, 1954 and she survives. Jerome was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, a 50 year member of the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665 and was a member of the Effingham American Legion Post #120 for 60 years. He was a Star route mail carrier and later worked for Crossroads Press for nearly 20 years. Jerome also served with the U.S. Army.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Effingham; son, Dennis (friend Pat Allen) of Effingham; daughter, Julie Pruemer (friend Mark Pike) of Effingham; four grandchildren, Darren Pruemer of New Orleans, La.,  Amanda Pruemer, Kelley Preumer and Jennifer Pruemer, all of  Effingham; great-grandchild, Lorelai Wilson; brothers, Thomas (wife Diana) of Vienna and Eric Pruemer of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; sisters, Jeanette (husband Clarence) Unkraut of Effingham and Patricia (husband Mark) Hartmann of Arlington Heights.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann and step-mother, Dorothy (Meinhart) Pruemer.
