Mary Ellen Conder (86) of Effingham

Mary Ellen Conder, 86, of Effingham, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, IL.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2021 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham.  Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham.  Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Community Support Systems, and Parkinson’s Institute.  Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.

Mary was born on October 14, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Lonnie and Francis Garr.  She was united in marriage to Murl Anthony “Tony” Conder on November 24, 1955, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2019.

Mary was a loving homemaker and loved being surrounded by family.  She enjoyed having large family get-togethers and was always doting on her grandchildren.  She was known for always “talking your ear off.”  Mary was known for her big smile.  Mary was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and had a deep faith in the Lord.

Mary is survived by her sons, Steve Conder, Drew Conder, and Joe (Sherri) Conder, all of Effingham; daughter, Angie (Allyn) Koester of Effingham; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Florence “Flo” Frank (Paul) and Rosie Flaherty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; sons, Michael A. Conder and James N. Conder; and siblings, Henry Garr, Charlie Garr, Bill Garr, Joe Garr, and Helen Garr.
