Lisa Pemberton (61) of Effingham

Lisa Pemberton, 61, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. peacefully at home with family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL 62401. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Please wear a mask for all services and practice social distancing guidelines. Lisa was born on January 23, 1960, in Granite City, IL, the daughter of Wilbur and Sarah (Markham) Shelton. She married Larry Pemberton Jr. on March 1, 1980. Lisa was a mother of seven kids and a grandmother to thirteen grandkids. During her years of parenthood, she was a home administrator, a Girl Scout leader, a party planner, a Unit 40 School Board member for 8 years, Unit 40 School Board President for 1 year, and a PTA volunteer/officer for years. She loved kids so much, she spent 8 years running her own daycare, Little Angels. Later, she became a YMCA Director and then a preschool aide at Discovery Garden Preschool. She was compassionate in the things she did from mending neighborhood kids in her front yard, running a doctor’s office, and running her own free fitness groups as a Beachbody Coach. She loved fiercely. Her husband was her rock, her home, and her forever. The two of them completed dozens of construction/demo projects throughout the years. Lisa was great at starting them and Larry great at finishing them. Over the years, the two of them ran and co-owned Pemberton Heating & Air. Her fierce love and passion is carried on by her family.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Larry Pemberton Jr. of Effingham; daughters, Heather (Dan) Stamer of St. Charles, MO, Andria (Doug) Verdeyen of Effingham, Emma (Randy) Dasenbrock of Stewardson, Tisha (Tyler) Greuel of Stewardson, and Hannah Pemberton of Effingham; sons, Kyle Pemberton of Effingham and Kaden Pemberton of Effingham; grandchildren, Maia, Kannon, Daelynn, Gavin, and Cooper Stamer, Blayzz and Carter Verdeyen, Chloe and Beau Dasenbrock, Tanor Pemberton, and Sophi, Zoey, and Taylor Greuel; sisters, Karren (Joe) Baker and Donna (Wally) Ashbaugh; brother, Fred (Barbara) Shelton; and brother-in-law, Allen Kennerly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Sarah Shelton; and sister, Barbara Kennerly.
