Sybil I. Abercrombie, 87, of Effingham died at 7:30am Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 16, at 1pm at First Christian Church in Effingham.  Burial in Ash Grove Cemetery in Windsor.  Visitation will be from 5-7pm Monday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.  Memorials to First Christian Church in Effingham.

She was born June 3, 1925 in Lake City, Illinois, the daughter of John and Ada (Stocks) Reed.  She married Otis W. Abercrombie in 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1999.  She was a member of First Christian Church in Effingham.  She retired as a secretary from John Boos and Company in Effingham.  She sewed and donated cancer caps.  She also enjoyed knotting the Project Linus baby quilts.  She was well-known for her homemade cookies by both children and adults.

Survivors include sisters, Betty Reed and Joanne "Jo" Reed, both of Sullivan and Emma McCall and husband Fred of Washington, Indiana...and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Otis.
